Marko Mrdja (born in 1996) began playing the piano at the age of seven. He first received piano lessons from Professor Zoran Petrovic from Belgrade and later studied with Felix Romankiewicz. He studied composition with a focus on electronic music at the HMDK Stuttgart under Professor Marco Stroppa, completing his studies in July 2020. At the same time, he joined the Zyriab World Music Academy to deepen his understanding of improvisation across various musical genres with the renowned Georgian musician Zaza Miminoshvili.
In his search for a personal musical expression, Marko studied music from the Balkans as well as Indian classical music with Indian bansuri master Dinesh Mishra. He performs nationwide in a wide range of genres, including contemporary piano music in solo, duo, and trio formations.
Marko also regularly performs live electronic music under the artist name TAMA for the label Predawn Records, which he co-founded in 2021 together with Laima Adelaide and Nils Edte.
Since 2023, he has been the pianist of the trio Soundrise, focusing exclusively on self-composed music, with whom he released their debut album "Emergy". In 2024, the group expanded into the Soundrise Quartet. Their album, "Orange Moon", was recorded in 2025 and is scheduled for release in 2026.
